Genetic algorithm for Optimal 3D Assembly path planning

This research deals with an optimal assembly path planning problem in 3D environment. An intelligent algorithm for 3D path planning has been developed in two levels. The algorithm in level one involves a genetic algorithm (GA) to generate optimal sequence of parts for assembly and disassembly (A/D) process. The algorithm in second level implements the heuristic search for the optimal path planning in 3D environment. Finally, a genetic algorithm is provided to find out feasible and optimal solutions efficiently. At the end, a case study, which is used to illustrate the performance of proposed method, is presented resulting in optimal 3D assembly plan that is simulated in VE.
