1992 and Beyond: In Conclusion

In the Spirit of 1992: Access to Western European Libraries and Literorwe is on the growth and development of online access to bibliographic records. This work is intended to assist librarians and other educarors in developing a broader world view, a more global perspective on the interconnectedness available through electronic information access, in this case, to Western European resources. It is crucial that librarians can ably interrogate the information infrastructure so vital to international growth and development, as well as to world understanding. This is one step in that direction. Information technology is increasingly available in colleges and universities on both sides of the Atlantic. In Europe this cooperative networking effort is taking place through the initiatives of the Commission of the European Communities' (CEC) Plan of Action for Libraries in the European Community (EC). The significant interest in Europe has fueled several other excellent sources of information resources on access to European library resources. Among the first is Bibliographic Access in Europe: First
