RECENT DEVELOPMENTS OF SIMULATING DISTURBED CELL RENEWAL SYSTEMS ON MINICOMPUTERS

SUMMARY The main objective of this contribution is to develop a control model for both normal and malignant cell renewal processes. By this the self-reproducing process can be studied by means of simulation with a minicomputer. The behaviour of a cell system is described by a list of specifications and given assumptions. Special interest is given to the local position and to the interactions between adjacent cells. Additional conditions enable the study of cell systems growing in competition with different speed. The computer simulation results show the local configuration of the cells in the 10x10 cell matrix at different discrete moments and outline the time course of the total number of cells. Examples are given for case studies of normal cell growth, of the proliferation of perturbed cell systems with different life spans growing in competition, and of cell systems under special initial conditions. The results show a great similarity to morphological cuts and to cell kinetic curves both gained by experiments. They are to stimulate further deliberated tests with cell cultures.
