Bursting Mechanisms in Molluskan Locomotion

Locomotion in animals almost invariably involves recurring bursts of impulses in motor neurones. In addition to the unsolved problems of mechanisms of patterning, and co-ordination, there remains the more fundamental issue of the origin of the membrane oscillations and the bursts themselves.
