Analysis of downlink capacity and transmitter power using SIR‐based adaptive transmitter power control in DS‐CDMA systems—consideration of both common control channel and traffic channels

This paper analyzes the down-link of a DS-CDMA system and clarifies the relationship between the system capacity and base station transmitter power, while taking handover and transmission quality into account, when the base station transmitter power control is suitably controlled so that the instantaneous SIR of mobile stations will be uniform in relation to traffic channels in a model that simultaneously considers the traffic channels and common control channel. This paper also shows that system parameters can be easily optimized if the derived equations are used. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
