Hybrid Optimization Technique for Short Term Wind-Solar-Hydrothermal Generation Scheduling

Renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar energy becomes to have great importance in the world as these sources generate power for load demand at low cost without producing any harmful emissions, so they are friendly to the environment. For this reason, renewable energy sources have been incorporated with hydro and thermal units to solve short-term hydrothermal (STHS) problem. In this paper, a new hybrid metaheuristic technique is grey wolf optimizer and cuckoo search HGWOCS is applied for solving short term hydrothermal generation scheduling problem in a hybrid power system which consists of the conventional thermal power generation, hydro plants, wind farms, and solar power plants. The total emission is used as an objective function. The obtained results prove the effectiveness and superiority of HGWOCS algorithm for solving the STHS problem.
