Estimation of the topological state of power system networks via interval analysis

This paper presents a new approach for the estimation of the topological state of power system networks. The quantities to be estimated include Boolean variables indicating the existence or absence of connection as well as real variables. The method is based on interval analysis and the notion of constraint propagation. Discrete variables (status variables) are used to determine a topology. To demonstrate the efficiency of the method, several simulations are conducted on the IEEE 14-bus network.
