CALCULATION OF ROAD-TRAFFIC NOISE

The Dutch Act on Noise Hindrance has 4 annexes, of which the first is "The Method of Calculation of Road Traffic Noise". In 8 chapters this is explained, with some examples. Taken into consideration are the following concepts: sound pressure, effective sound pressure, equivalent level of sound pressure, a-weighing, considered period, summing up of different levels of sound making sources, influencing factors, such as traffic lanes, categories of vehicles, traffic intensity and speed, number of lorries, road surface, intersections, reflection of the noise, distance, air damping, effects of the soil and the weather.
