A new approach in designing a multiband monopole antenna is illustrated. The planar monopole antenna area has the size of 14mm in height and 30mm in width. With inserting a sinuous route in the outside sub-patch, which lower the lower band frequency and enhance the height band frequency bandwidth. The proposed antenna was fabricated and tested. The results showed a good agreement with the simulated ones. Due to the reduced size and capable of multiple operating bands, this type of antenna can be used in multiband mobile phone for GSM900/DCS/PCS/UMTS and GPS applications. Details of the proposed antenna design are described in this paper, and experimental results of the constructed prototype are presented.
