Control Design of Flywheel Battery for UPS Applications

A discussion has been made on a control of flywheel energy storage system based on permanent magnet synchronous motor, and focus on researching the charge control strategy of the flywheel battery model in the synchronous rotating coordinates system. Designs the flywheel battery charge dual closed-loop control structure based on direct current control strategy, in which, pulse-width modulation uses SVPWM. The digital simulation results show that the good control performance can meet the flywheel battery actual control requirements. In the UPS system using flywheel battery to replace the traditional chemical batteries advantages are: maintenance-free, long life and no pollution.
