Balun Effects in the Quasi-Yagi Antenna

An investigation on the balun effects in the radiation pattern of the 'quasi-Yagi' antenna is presented. As the 'quasi-Yagi' antenna is a very wideband radiation element, it is important to determine the balun effects on the antenna performance, both in the upper and the lower bands for radiation. The results demonstrate that it is not strictly necessary to have a 180deg phase difference to feed the printed dipole and that the antenna bandwidth can be up to 100% with the appropriate balun
