A tomographic scintillation camera.

By attaching a rotating collimator and a table with a top moving in a circular motion to an Anger scintillation camera, four tomographic images can be obtained simultaneously using a modified CRT display. The device exhibits essentially the same resolution and sensitivity as a normal camera, depending on the particular collimator used. The tomographic effect is sufficient to determine clearly the depth of an object within 2.5 cm for objects with sharp outlines. A rotational speed of up to 2 revolutions per minute, which should not cause any patient discomfort, allows tomographic scintiphotos to be taken in as little as 30 seconds. Since the table and collimator can be removed in a few minutes, the camera can be used interchangeably either in its normal mode, or as a tomographic camera.
