Knowledge-based medical system integration to foster knowledge transfer and network building

This paper describes projects that demonstrate applied knowledge management in medical engineering. It describes Stroke and Alzheimer portal system solutions, designed for patients and their families cope with their problems and help physicians in their treatment. A video conferencing system illustrates how specialists and general practitioners are connected superiorly. A readability test assists to prepare information in a package leaflet for patients. All described projects show that knowledge-based solutions can effectively support people in health matters. The outlook illustrates a comprehensive medical framework which facilitates knowledge transfer and network building between patients, relatives and medical experts.
