Global carbon uptake of cement carbonation accounts 1930-2021 1

: 21 The main contributor to the GHG footprint of the cement industry is the 22 decomposition of alkaline carbonates during clinker production. However, systematic 23 accounts for the reverse of this process - namely carbonation of calcium oxide and other 24 alkaline oxides/hydroxides within cement materials during cements’ life cycle have 25 only recently been undertaken.
