This review paper is intended to briefly present the concept of the most recent electromagnetic field (EMF) monitoring system — EMF RATEL. This system is established by Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services of the Republic of Serbia (RATEL) and is envisioned for the daily EMF monitoring over the territory of the Republic of Serbia. The EMF RATEL system deploy the state-of-the-art wireless network of EMF monitoring sensors, performing wideband monitoring of cumulative field level, in order to determine its fluctuation over a long period of time and across the territory that this sensors network covers. In addition, the EMF RATEL system has been designed to perform the assessment of the general population exposure, according the Serbian prescribed reference limits. The main objective of this system is to become useful and user-friendly tool for regulatory agencies, which are in charge for regulation and installation of new EMF sources, in order to protect environment from possible harmful level of non-ionizing radiation. The EMF RATEL network transparently presents the measurement results over its public Internet web portal.
