STATUS OF THE CDF II ONLINE TRIGGER

Run II at the Tevatron is scheduled to start in March 2001. The accelerator complex and collider detectors are undergoing substantial upgrades. This has motivated a complete redesign of the online-trigger system for the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF). The CDF trigger system has a three-level architecture that will reduce the 7.6 MHz crossing rate to 50 Hz written to tape. Using a pipelined and buffered system, the trigger is designed to be "deadtimeless". The structure of the trigger will be flexible and programmable in order to respond to changing beam conditions or physics goals. This paper will review the structure of the CDF trigger system and give a status report on construction and commissioning of the system.
