Evaluating and Assessing Tsunamis Technologies for Specific Situations

Publisher Summary Sea-level gauges of different types, sensing elements, data storage media, and communication facilities have evolved over a long period. Some oceanographic research laboratories and many private companies have played significant roles in this endeavor. A couple of nationally and internationally sponsored oceanographic research programs have supported the widespread use and proliferation of some particular types of sea-level gauges. Some of the gauges have been designed specifically to suit the requirements of water level measurements from bore wells and dams as well. World Bank funding for hydrological studies have promoted and accelerated the development and widespread use of such gauges. Some gauges have been designed primarily for navigational and hydrographic survey applications. Some others have been constructed for specific studies.
