Hydrograph responses to watershed model size and similitude relations

Abstract The effect of size on the hydrograph parameters of maximum peak, time of rise, time of recession, and time of runoff is determined on watershed models under a rainfall simulator which completely and uniformly covers the model. Results are evaluated in relation to each other and to real watersheds. It is shown: (1) that the model-size/maximum-peak relationship is as predicted for real watersheds; (2) that these relationships for a series of real watersheds are similar to those of the model series; and (3) that the hydrograph responses of models and watersheds appear to be mathematically related.
