Integrating Heterogeneous Protein-Protein Interaction Databases Based on Metadata

Protein-protein interactions(PPIs) are fundamental for understanding of the biological processes of life.In the course of the study of PPIs,a large amount of data which came from experiments and predictions have been generated,and are stored in heterogeneous databases.In order to implement data sharing and maximize the use of data,it is required that these heterogeneous databases be integrated.This paper presented a solution based on the query translation technique and metadata theory to integrate heterogeneous databases.A web-based platform for integrating heterogeneous protein-protein interaction databases was built,and 9 PPI databases were integrated successfully.
