Gas transport through rice

Abstract A method for analyzing the capacity of rice seedlings to transport gas from the medium surrounding the roots to the atmosphere, is described. Large intervarietal differences in transport capacity were observed. Other results indicate that lowland rice varieties may have a greater potential for gas transport than upland varieties.
