Visual Feedback Control for a Cluster of Microorganisms

A novel method is proposed to control a cluster of microorganisms as micro-robots by utilizing visual feedback. A visual feedback system is constructed to control microorganisms using galvanotaxis. A task of micro-manipulation of a small object is demonstrated by using a lot of paramecia. The experimental results support the feasibility of micro-manipulation by a cell cluster using visual feedback control. It is expected that the proposed method will be applicable for various micro-robotic tasks in future
