Development of power facility management systems in the Hankyu corporation

The electric system-related units to which the authors refer are used in the maintenance and management of power line facilities, transformer substations and the internal line system. Specifically, in around 1984 we built and began using a unique facility management system to supervise our power line facilities and transformer substations, thus enhancing our ability to manage the related facilities. In recent years however, the emergence of a range of problems has made the enhancement of functions based on the existing facility management system difficult. It has become apparent that the current system has limitations in regard to the pursuit of a higher level of facility management. We therefore began building a series of new systems, including an internal-line facility system, aimed at realizing a higher level of facility management and maintenance as well as facility efficiency through the introduction of a variety of functions. In addition, we unified database management by leveraging the network environment of the company's Railway Engineering Division (Fig. 1), and succeeded in introducing fully-fledged operation of the new systems on April 1, 2005. This paper outlines the details of this project.
