Synthesis of 11C‐labelled choline

We report the synthesis of 11C-labelled choline using the reaction of “nocarrier-added” 11C-labelled methyliodide and 2-amino-(N,N-dimethyl)-ethanol. After determining the optimum temperature and duration for the reaction, we achieved a radiochemical yield of about 30% and the radioactivity levels needed for PET studies in humans.
