Performance of OFDM system under troposcatter fading channels

As the transmission bit rate is limited for the multipath fading effect in troposcatter communication,Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) technique is introduced to eliminate the Inter-Symbol Interference(ISI) in high transmission system.First, the troposcatter multipath fading channel is modeled. Then, the performance of OFDM signal over tropo channel is analyzed theoretically, and the components of the received signal are investigated. Finally, the Symbol Error Rate(SER) of the considered system is achieved. To improve the SER performance, the Reed-Solomon coding technique is adopted.Simulation results show that high transmission rate is possible as the OFDM scheme is employed in troposcatter communication. With the coding technique, the SER performance of the OFDM scheme over tropo channel meets well with military communication requirements at high transmission rate.
