Apparatus and method for lane fault recovery

The present invention provides a device and a method for recovering a fault of a lane in an Ethernet based on multi-lanes, capable of detecting an error generated in the lane by distinguishing the error from a link error and distinguishing the lane having the error. The device for recovering a fault of a lane includes a communication unit and a connection processing unit. The communication unit includes a plurality of data transmission lanes and conducts electrophotic conversion by dividing data into transmission lanes according to a transmitted command. The connection processing unit recognizes the fault generated in the transmission lanes and transmits the command for transmitting the data through a usable normal lane excepting the lane with the fault by controlling a transmission rate. The data is transmitted by using a switched back-up link. Therefore, when the fault of the lane is generated in the Ethernet having a multi-lanes structure, the present invention rapidly corresponds to the fault by dynamically operating the lanes according to the method for recovering a fault and minimizes a loss of a packet generated while being converted into the back-up link.
