Analyzing the Influence of Capacity Adjustments on Performance Robustness in Dynamic Job-shop Environments

Abstract To keep up a high performance and to stay profitable, manufacturing systems need to be robust against fluctuations and disturbances. In this paper we present a brief overview on robustness measures in manufacturing and investigate the trade-off between robustness of operational performance and cost-efficiency. We further conduct a simulation study on a real world manufacturing system to analyze the influence of capacity adjustments on the performance robustness of different operational key figures.
