Effect of coordinated base station in uplink transmission under disaster cells

This paper examines the effect of coordinated base station (BS) assuming the uplink case in multi-cellular system for the application of performance recovery in the disaster cells where their BS is broken and not working. In this situation, user terminals (UTs) in non-working cells which have high demand for communication should connect to a BS in a far away distance which brings severe degradation of link quality, but it could be improved by the cooperative work of working BSs. Here considered is the fully multiple input multiple output (MIMO) case where all the BSs and UTs are equipped with multiantenna, and both of space-time block code (STBC) and multistream transmission based on its spatial multiplexing ability are utilized. The aim of this study, "the evaluation of the performance improvement by the coordination" is carried out by computer simulations under various parameters using four algorithms with and without cooperative reception. The results show the effectiveness of coordinated BS in this application, and the different points from the case of downlink are discussed.
