Dynamic EMI characteristic analysis of vehicle electric-drive system operated in multi-operation conditions

Nowadays, with the development of electronic and electrical industry technology, and the strong requirement of clean energy, more and more vehicle manufacturers are dedicated to developing the electric-drive vehicles to achieve high efficiency of power transfer and to realize low gas emission. However, although electric drive technology has a substantial advantage than the conventional oil-fueled technology, it still introduces some additional EMI problems. Actually, a series of switching actions of the power transfer component is the main cause of those EMI problems, and would badly influence the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of the whole system. In this paper, a dynamic EMI measurement method of the vehicle electric-drive system under multi-operation conditions is proposed, and the comparisons of EMI results are given and discussed later to further demonstrate that the internal rapid-switch action of the power inverter is the main EMI source of the drive system.
