Operating at absolute minimum cost can n o longer be the o nly criterion for dis- patching electric power due to increasing co- ncern over the environmental considerations. The economic-emissio n load dispatch ( EELD ) problem w hich a ccounts for minimization of both cost and emission is a multiple, confli- ctiny objective function problem. Goal progr- amming techniques are most suitable for such type of problems. In this paper, the econo- mic-emission load dispatch problem is solved through linear and non-linear goal programming algorithms. The application and validity of the proposed algorithms are d emonstrated for a sample syrtem having six generators.
