VIBRATION TUNE-UP

Vibrator frequency is a key to the ability to consolidate fresh concrete. When the frequency is too low, the vibrator cannot properly consolidate the concrete; and when the frequency is too high, air-entrained concrete can become less resistant to damage caused by cyclic freezing. Frequency also influences construction operations as the lower the frequency, the longer the vibrator must stay in place to thoroughly consolidate the concrete. This paper focuses on the concrete industry's efforts to take a more careful look at monitoring vibrator frequency on form vibrators, on handheld immersion vibrators, and on the vibrators mounted on slipform pavers.
