Image processing method and image processing apparatus using hybrid look-up table

An image processing method using a hybrid look-up table and an image processing apparatus are provided to prevent an artifact like a blurring or a mosaic pattern by applying a look-up table corresponding to a characteristic of an image. A storing unit(120) stores the first multi-bit pixel value and the second multi-bit pixel value designated by a bit pattern formed from states of pixels of a binary image in a memory table. A converting unit(130) assigns one, specified by the bit pattern corresponding to the states of the pixels in an image block of the binary image including binary pixels corresponding to pixels of a multi-bit pixel image, between the first multi-bit pixel value and the second multi-bit pixel value to the pixels of the multi-bit pixel image. When the pixel block has the first pixel context, the converting unit assigns the first multi-bit pixel value to the pixels. When the pixel block has the second pixel context, the converting unit assigns the second multi-bit pixel value to the pixels.
