Speckle filter for Weibull-distributed SAR images

The speckle-texture multiplicative model with Weibull distribution is used to represent the SAR image of one or more looks. A punctual nonlinear transformation applied to the original image produces the filtered image. This nonlinear transformation employs the local estimation of the scale and form parameters of the Weibull distribution to perform the filtering. The filter performance is analyzed in terms of equivalent number of looks (ENL) and resolution, which shows a good performance.
