Mechatronics system for diagnosis and treatment of major diseases in grape vineyards based on image processing

Abstract Grape is non-climacteric fruit. For export quality grapes, farmers regularly monitor plants for identification of possible diseases and spray relevant pesticides. Due to time constraints and effort involved, farmers usually spray an excessive pesticide which causes health hazards. Mechatronics system is proposed to monitor health of the grapes leaves based on histogram analysis using the MATLAB. It alert farmers about the initiation of major grape diseases viz. Downey Mildew, Powdery Mildew and Anthracnose and trigger automatic spraying of pesticides based on the philosophy of Precision Farming, results economical utilization of pesticides and save their valuable time for other relevant agricultural activities.
