Bandwidth Enhancement of Broadband Dual-Polarized Dipole Antenna for 5G Base Station

Aiming at the application of 5G base station, this paper presents a bandwidth enhancement method for broadband dual-polarized dipole antenna. The antenna element is in the shape of a four-leaf clover. By introducing a coupling layer and some impedance matching cylinders, the bandwidth enhancement is achieved. Meanwhile, the miniaturization of the antenna can be effectively realized. The antenna adopts the form of balun feed. Simulation result shows that the antenna achieves a wide impedance bandwidth of 72.4% with $S11\lt -10$ dB (from 1.32 to 2.82 GHz) and a high isolation of greater than 30dB within the bandwidth. Also, a stable radiation pattern with the maximum half-power beamwidth of 76.3° at horizontal plane and a stable gain of 8.4 dBi are obtained simultaneously over the working frequency band.
