Two-Dimensional Wavelet Transforms and Applications

In this chapter, we describe various methods of applying the wavelet transform to a two-dimensional signal or image. In particular, we will treat subband image decomposition and encoding, image enhancement, and wavelet techniques for image compression and video encoding. Optical image processing techniques using wavelets will be the subject of a later chapter.
