Improved frame rate using image interpolation for color flow imaging of the heart

With conventional ultrasonic color doppler blood flow imaging, there is a trade off between the frame rate and the image quality or the display angle of thr image. We have developed an interframe image interpolation technique based on an affine transformation which doubles the frame rate with no loss in image quality. Clinical evaluation proved that our method gives good results at a frame rate of 7.5 to 10 frames par second, giving an interpolated frame rate of 15 to 20 frames per second
