We applied three-component (H//A) decomposition analysis and four-component (Ps, Pd, Pv and Pc) analysis to ALOS-PALSAR quad-polarized data of Izu-Oshima and Miyakejima volcanoes to monitor volcanic activities. The results demonstrated clear discrimination of forest, urban and volcanic deposit areas, indicating a high possibility of detecting land-cover changes at volcanoes by space-borne PolSAR observations.
