The Most Important Aspects of Uncertainty in the Internet of Things Field – Context of Smart Buildings

Abstract This paper describes the phenomenon of uncertainty in the face of technological megatrends and challenges associated with them. The article focuses on the analysis of the uncertainty in one of the most important technology trends – the Internet of Things (IoT) – on the example of smart buildings. In science, it is advisable to carry out the analysis and interpret the concept of uncertainty and the conditions of its occurrence, and hence search for effective ways of dealing with it. Publication on the one hand shows the research results relating to the identified aspects of uncertainty which are very important in the era of the dynamic growth of the information (including big data), on the other hand it sets out important new areas of research. In this article the concept of the IoT is treated as a big, complex, dynamic system with specific characteristics, dimensions, structures and behaviors. Author analysed factors that may determine the uncertainty and ambiguity of such systems in the context of the development of intelligent building industry.
