FINITE ELEMENT MODELLING OF ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCERS USING THE ATILA CODE

This paper is concerned with the modelling of ultrasonic transducers for macrosonics and acoustic imaging. The analysis of specific problems encountered in their design is performed with the help of the ATILA code. Two examples are presented. The first one concerns the analysis of the power limitations and of the vibration of a length expander transducer used in ultrasonic machining. The second one is the modelling of the radiation of a lithium niobate bar used in ultrasonic imaging.
