This article is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the physical models while the second part focuses on self learning models. The article evaluates different formulas, based on the principles of mechanics that are used to estimate a motorcycle's pre-collision speed in motorcyle-to-vehicle crashes. These formulas use parameters such as motorcycle wheelbase and vehicle crush depth that were obtained from experiments and published experimental data. The articles discusses how these evaluations indicate that the motorcycle's pre-collision speed cannot be accurately measured with these formulas. This makes it necessary to obtain additional information for accurate accident reconstruction.
