Cognition: determinism, chaos and emergence

The authors consider establishing a multilayer model for human cognitive processes. Routine procedures are explained by a first level with linear dynamics. The first level is a linear controller and its parameters are determined by the learning tasks performed at the third level. More sophisticated procedures are at a second self-adaptive level. The second level is a self-adaptive controller and its parameters and identifying processes are determined by the learning tasks performed at the third level. The third level based on nonlinear dynamics learns all the tasks, determines parameters and procedures, and, under risk, assumes all the control tasks. Really complicated and new situations involving risk are assumed by the third level, which performs them and feeds back to the lowest levels with new parameters and procedures.<<ETX>>
