Propagation experiments with the OTS satellite

The measurements are performed by Earth-stations installed at the Intelsat site of Lessive and at the University of Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, in Belgium. The Lessive station is concerned with the B0/B1 beacon. The main station in Louvain-la-Neuve simultaneously records the data collected by two radiometers as well as the TM beacon of the OTS satellite. The relationship between radiometer outputs and satellite beacon levels is investigated. A strong correlation for some events seems to exist between sky noise temperature variations at 35 GHz and scintillations as well as crosspolar discrimination at 11 GHz. The determination of the medium temperature Tm is analyzed both on an event and a statistical basis.
