The geographical position of Croatia results in a variety of soil types in terms of their composition. The impetus of road construction infrastructure requires adjustment and diversity in design solutions in order to meet the professional requirements in routes of national interest. The preliminary works on the routes almost always produce large quantities of excavation material which, unfortunately, very often ends up as waste material. The Paper presents possibilities and ways of improvement of waste excavation material in order to reuse it for different purposes in road construction works. The improvement with three types of non-traditional cement is presented, of different structures and reactivity, depending on the soil type and acceptable execution solutions. The benefit of this procedure is also presented through the environmental acceptability.
