Own R&D、Technology Purchased and Energy Intensity in China's Industrial Sector——An Empirical Analysis Based on Panel Data Models of 31 Industries

The paper empirically examines the effect of the own RD,foreign technology purchased and domestic technology purchased on the industrial energy intensity,based on the panel data of China's 31 industrial sectors from 1998 to 2004,and studies the effect of absorptive capacity of RD on the industrial energy intensity.The results shows that domestic technology purchased contributes to a significant decline in energy intensity,but the own RD and foreign technology purchased have a significant negative influence on energy efficiency.Own RD,due to its poor absorptive ability,have not facilitated to decrease energy intensity in high or low energy intensity industrial sectors.
