In [1], we examined the use of provenance and semantic web technologies to enhance web service description and discovery. We performed a within-subjects study in which participants were shown web service descriptions with and without provenance. Our intent was to measure any changes in similarity, decision confidence, and relative advantage that provenance might supply. Unfortunately, our analysis contained an inappropriate statistical test. Mann–Whitney significance test was used, which assumes both groups are independent of each other and is inappropriate for a within-subjects study. The analysis should have been conducted using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Due to limitations in space, only a brief discussion of the new results is presented here. The interested reader should consult [1] for complete details on ontology design, rationale, and methodology. Additional details from the corrected analysis can be obtained by contacting the first author.
