Setting Emacs Keys for Common Constructions

I am assuming Emacs is your text editor.1 There’s probably AucTeX code in your˜/. emacs file, which came with the Linux distribution. AucTeX is written in Lisp, as are all Emacs.emacs macros. It adds useful editing and debugging commands. When Emacs is in Latex mode, AucTeX will run a region or the whole of the current file through Latex; it will locate the Latex commands in the file and lists them with line numbers; it can jump directly to view or print the document.
