Test analysis of shearer cutting at coal face

Current studies on shearers are lack of the analysis of cutting loads from the coal working face. The sampling values of cutting current and traction torque signals picked from the shearer with memory-cutting function at its manual teaching phase were analyzed, and the main cutting loads of its spiral drum were also calculated in this paper. The results show that the characteristics of mean cutting force response signals can truly reflect the nature differences of drum cutting media;the cutting force response signals in various typical cutting conditions follow normal distributions, and in the normal cutting condition, the variance of the cutting force response signals is the smallest, which means the fluctuations of the cutting force response signals in a normal cutting condition is the lowest. The drum height and its cutting state duration can be used for the accurate recognition of drum cutting state;and cutting power accounts for approximately 70% of the total power consumption.
