Quantitative Risk Analysis

Caution against events resulting in damages to people, goods, and/or environment is a fundamental requirement for each technical activity, from laboratory operations to large-scale industrial plants. This means that all the hazards must be known and their related risks must be reduced. The process of estimating quantitatively the overall risk related to all the hazards present in a given situation is called quantitative risk analysis (QRA), and it is outlined in this article. More detailed discussions of the more relevant steps involved in QRA are reported in dedicated articles on chemistry, molecular science, and engineering.
