Candida precipitins.

Precipitating antibodies against group A Candida albicans mannan were demonstrated in sera from healthy volunteers and from patients with mucocutaneous isolates of Candida. Forty-eight per cent of sera from healthy volunteers and 69% of sera from patients with mucocutaneous isolates of Candida had precipitating antibodies when studied in Preer immunodiffusion tubes. Precipitins were found with greater frequency and in significantly higher titer in sera from patients with mucocutaneous isolates than in sera from healthy patients. Precipitin bands were detected in Ouchterlony plates in 38% of sera with Preer tube titers of 1:8 or greater but in only 5% of sera with lower tube titers.
