The magnetic field on physicochemical properties pertaining to magnetic treatment in wastewater

Wastewater treatment is concerned with environmental protection and with the reduction of pollutant discharge into the environment. Magnetic technology is a physical treatment technique, which is commonly used in water processing industry. Magnetic treatment is an alternative simple approach by which the water to be treated flows through a magnetic field and consequently changes some of its physicochemical properties. Alteration of physical and chemical properties in the mode of magnetic treatment implies a certain influence of magnetic field on the structure of water. This research is mainly focused on the capability of magnetic field to increase sedimentation process through circulation flowing method, which will be conducted using the settling tube test. According to the designed system, the efficiency to dissolve the concentrations of SS, BOD, NH3-N and COD were evaluated by measuring the remaining concentrations at the output the device. The study reveal that longer exposure time to magnetic field and lower flow rate will enhance the settling of suspended particles and the concentrations of BOD, NH3-N and COD in wastewater.
